Scalar Quarkonium and the Scalar Glueball

The identification of fJ(1710) as the lightest scalar glueball is supported at present by two different sets of calculations. For the valence approximation to the infinite volume continuum limit of the lightest scalar glueball mass, a calculation on GF11 [1], using 25000 to 30000 gauge configurations, gives 1740 ± 71 MeV. An independent calculation by the UKQCD-Wuppertal [2] collaboration, usin...

Mixing of Scalar Glueball and Scalar Quarkonia

The isosinglet scalar mesons f0(1710), f0(1500), f0(1370) and their mixing are studied. Two recent lattice results are employed as the starting point; one is the approximate SU(3) symmetry in the scalar sector above 1 GeV for the connected insertion part without qq̄ annihilation, and the other is the scalar glueball mass at 1710 MeV in the quenched approximation. In the SU(3) symmetry limit, f0(...

Scalar Glueball, Scalar Quarkonia, and their Mixing

The isosinglet scalar mesons f0(1710), f0(1500), f0(1370) and their mixing are studied. We employ two recent lattice results as the starting point; one is the isovector scalar meson a0(1450) which displays an unusual property of being nearly independent of quark mass for quark masses smaller than that of the strange, and the other is the scalar glueball mass at 1710 MeV in the quenched approxim...

The scalar glueball spectrum

We discuss scenarios for scalar glueballs using arguments based on sum rules, spectral decomposition, the 1 Nc approximation, the scales of the strong interaction and the topology of the flux tubes. We analyze the phenomenological support of those scenarios and their observational implications. Our investigations hint a rich low lying glueball spectrum. Unquenching the scalar glueball

Computations in the quenched approximation on the lattice predict the lightest glueball to be a scalar in the 1.5−1.8 GeV region. Here we calculate the dynamical effect the coupling to two pseudoscalars has on the mass, width and decay pattern of such a scalar glueball. These hadronic interactions allow mixing with the qq scalar nonet, which is largely fixed by the well-established K 0(1430). T...
